Finished editorial comp
Before we created the 5 images used for the short story that Alan Moore included in issue 6 of his underground magazine Dodgem Logic, we photographed and composited this image. We were initially given a very rare freedom - to create any image we wanted to, and Alan would consider this as a starting point for the story.
The image depicts a psychopathic clown leaving a crime scene of severed limbs and stitched body parts, with the note 'Day One' taped to the string of a red balloon that had, in this case, taken the place of an absent head.
Within the image, I personally appear 4 times. I have a leg and an arm on the metal table behind the dead lego body. I am half of the dead leg / body and I am also the clown who is leaving. The other half of the body is Kerry Wright, the location assistant who was a patient sport.
Before we finished the shoot, Gavin Wallace wanted to wind down by taking some more shots. We used an old wheelchair on the day so I constructed a fish head above me (I'm the clown) and we pumped a little dry-ice into the room to give a little atmosphere. Although I can't see it myself, some people claim to be able to see the shape of a ghostly figure in the smoke. Spooky.
